Students in Henderson County Schools will be taking the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) starting on May 4th and continuing until the final day of testing on May 24th.

KSA is the annual summative assessment given in grades 3rd - 8th, 10th, and 11th to Kentucky public school students. KSA provides content area assessments, including reading, mathematics, science, social studies, writing, editing, and mechanics.  Students will also complete a Quality of School Climate and Safety Survey prior to content area tests.

Previously these tests were called Kentucky Performance Rating for Educational Progress (K-PREP). They were developed by Kentucky teachers and aligned with the Kentucky Academic Standards for each academic content area.

Per state regulations, all students in Henderson County Schools are expected to test.

Families are reminded of these tips for test-taking success:

  • Know when your child’s test dates are scheduled.

  • Do not schedule appointments when your child is testing.

  • Encourage your child to do his/her best on testing days.

  • Remind your child of the importance of reading directions carefully and not rushing through a test.

  • Please make sure students get a good night’s rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and are at school on time each day ready to give their best effort.

Each school will be sharing a detailed testing schedule with families.
