Henderson County FFA was recently announced as a National 3-Star Chapter, the highest rating a chapter can receive. They will be recognized on stage at the 97th National FFA Convention in late October. There are 9,235 chapters in the National FFA Organization, and only approximately 4% are awarded this high honor each year. It also ranks Henderson County FFA as being one of the top ten chapters in the state of Kentucky. This will be the fourth time (2014, 2015, 2023) that HCHS FFA has received this award since Henderson’s Charter in 1952.

The National Chapter Awards program recognizes outstanding FFA chapters from throughout the country that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization. These chapters improve chapter operations using the National Quality FFA Chapter Standards and a Program of Activities that emphasizes growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture. Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership.

Henderson FFA Officer Anna Bennett had a leading role in completing the application. Bennett, now a senior at HCHS and FFA President, stated “Our officers, members, and advisors have worked diligently and put their all into this application. We had an amazing year full of strong and engaging events with our chapter which helped strengthen our relationships and grow our love for FFA. Receiving this National 3 Star rating is a tremendous honor for our chapter and reflects our successful year.”

The application process begins in April by taking a look at each event an agriculture program hosts or attends from contests to community service through the evaluation of a state rating form. Kentucky “Gold” Chapters qualify to submit a national chapter application that takes an in-depth look at the most innovative 15 activities a chapter hosts in the areas of leadership, community service, and agriculture. The top 15% of Kentucky chapters are sent to the National FFA Organization to receive their final rating over the summer and are finally recognized at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN during the fall semester.
