Currently Teaching?

Teachers are expected to check their certificate expiration data and take the required action if their certificate is expiring soon. Immediately upon receipt of the new certificate, you should send one copy to HR to be placed in your personnel file. Contact the Human Resources department for further help/information.

You can always check your certification expiration dates here or here.

Did you obtain your certification out of state?

Please visit the EPSB website for more information.  Information can be found Out of State Certification information.

Certificate Expiring Soon?

Steps to renew your certification:

1.      Apply using the new EPSB online KECS system. Login here. Use the attached instructions for more information.

 2.      Which certification do you choose?

a.       A typical renewal is the CA-2 application.

b.       Note: You can choose Synchronize Certs, pay an extra $15 and have ALL of your certifications on the same expiration date. This saves money and time in the long run.

c.       If you are in an alternative certification program and have not fully completed the program, HR will need to start a CA-TP application for you. Just email us to start the application.

d.       If you are adding a certification, follow the instructions in the Rank Change email sent each spring.

e.       If you are retiring this year, and it is time for renewal, apply for the Emeritus certificate. It is only $25 and good for ten years after you retire. If you ever sub, an active certification is required. It is an easier process to renew now rather than later.

 3.      We do not receive notification that the district needs to complete the experience portion for you.  Email Lisa Cox and/or Jinger Carter to complete the district experience portion.

a.       Note: If you have an administrative certification (principal, supervisor of instruction, counseling, consultant, etc.) please remind us to complete the EILA hours portion on the district experience page. Do this even if you are not currently in that role.

 4.      KDE/Licensure [EPSB] no longer prints certificates. Instead, they will email you from this address (KDELicensure@education.ky.gov). You will then download a pdf and send to lisa.cox@henderson.kyschools.us or jinger.carter@henderson.kyschools.us

 5.      Please know a condition of your employment is to have an active certification by the start of the school year. Failure to do so will result in a reduction in pay to Rank IV status (currently $40,593) and/or potential forfeiture of contract.
